As an entrepreneur and business owner, I find that people recognize me by my professional title. “Oh you’re that wedding planner right?”.  I reply, “Yes I am that and a few other things”. Amidst this global pandemic of COVID-19, I planned for a special day, my own. My birthday rolled around and every year I look forward to celebrating it with family & close friends. This year, I had to adjust my plans as everyone in my state has been strongly advised to remain indoors. I purchased my birthday dress, shoes & accessories weeks in advance and was looking forward to getting all dolled up. When my big day arrived, as I looked through my closet, my hands gravitated to the dress. I then made the decision to wear it anyway. I pulled the dress out, untwisted my hair, did my makeup, put on my accessories and was ready to go!

I had a close relative visiting from Ayiti (Haiti) for a short visit and I wanted to make sure we had a chance to spend time together before she headed back. My brother recommended we take her to this fairly new Haitian owned restaurant north of Boston. At first I was hesitant because I wasn’t sure if taking her out to consume cuisine that is normally on her menu as the best option. To me, that’s like if I visited Cuba and the locals took me to a restaurant that served American food. But I took his positive review in stride and we headed to the location.
